What a beautiful pair of words. What a brilliant concept. When teaching natural selection, I’ve always presented it in the very simple terms my friend Cari taught me: What works sticks around, what doesn’t work, doesn’t stick around. It’s not about some brutal competition for limited resources; in fact, it’s very often about cooperation. Our own bodies represent a huge cooperative of cell types and symbiotic relationships.
