It’s a term I’ve seen online, a few times, without really knowing what it was, but I just looked it up, so now I do, and I think yeah. Here we go, maybe this is my team, in the event of war.
When the New Civil War happens, I’m gonna be a redneck. But not armed. No, as is always the case (sigh), even though there’s an underlying philosophy there, and I like it, it was freaking born of a gun club or some such and while I’m not opposed to the use of fire arms to take a deer or to dispatch a pig or a cow, in general, I’m pretty sure there are other ways and that guns are just so much more harmful than any kind of good that they do that no, I can’t officially join that particular group, either.
Thing is, I want a Civl War without any guns. I want for the War to be Civil. Like, debate or something. Maybe I’ll found the old fart hippies team, or see if I can find it. OFH. Lots of us will probably be making those kinds of sounds and we work the kinks out of our knees and such during boot camp.
But believe it or not, the rednecks could do just fine in a rhetorical debate, I know many, and I mean MANY, completed uneducated freaking rednecks, who have so much more common sense and knowledge of the world and how it works than a bloody panel of experts on every subject in the peer reviewed literature base, it’s not even funny.
It’s really sad, in fact.
Some of them even have a pretty good grip on language. Philosophy? Formal logic? No problem, but it might be kind of informal. Common sense.
And the stuff the rednecks know about? Christ, they know how to grow food, make clothes, build houses, fix things, how to gut a pig, all that stuff that most of the really well educated people in the good old USA don’t have clue, not a freaking clue, how to do. Not a whole lot of particularly useful information, that which is offered up in schools, not when it comes down to living life.
I face palm.
Thing is, this is kind of a thing I understand, very well, having lived life in both worlds, always. The world of academics, and the world of rednecks. Not the gun-toting kind, the kind whose necks are red, or black, or brown, because they actually get out in the world and do things like grow plants, catch fish, build houses, fix things, that kind of stuff.
Believe it not, those folks understand just as much about the world, more, in oh so many ways, than the f*cking educated elite, but of course, it’s the educated elite who write the books, most of them, at least the "educational" ones, so it is their world perspective we are living with.
Some of those redneck have even educated themselves, way beyond what the educated elite have learned. They have wide open, inquisitive minds, that haven’t been shut down by formal education. Imagine that.
